Sherston's Green Day a success

Visitors to Sherston’s first Village Green Day, which coincided with International Biodiversity Day, saw more than 50 different stalls recently.
Sherston’s tree warden, Irene Johnston, who helped organise the day, said: “It was a fantastic day. I couldn’t believe how warm and sunny it was. We had a great turnout.”
Kicking things off was the Dodington Brass Band and the day culminated in the Mangold maid-making ceremony which saw Stacey Dryden chosen for the role.
Mrs Johnston said: “Bee and bird boxes were on sale, there were recycled wood benches and animal troughs, patchwork quilts and wildlife paintings and photographs.
“There was also a plant exchange which proved popular, a barbecue workshop, alpacas and homemade food and drink.
“We had a marquee on the green where children could make paper flowers and take part in a video project about protecting the environment.”
